The Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci is located in the San Vittore ancient monastery close to Sant’Ambrogio and Santa Maria delle Grazie. The total exhibition surface is 40.000 sqm. The main attraction of the museum is the permanent exhibition in the Gallery, completely dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.
Here you can see the machines drawn by the in the pages of the famous code like the pole hammer as well as his notes on his studies about anatomy, geology, cartography, botanic, mathematics and physics. At the entrance of the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci the Regina Margherita thermoelectric power station (it was used until the beginning of the twentieth century to generate electricity) dominates the hall.
The Museum is divided into departments: materials, transport, energy, communication, Leonardo Art and Science, new frontiers and science for young people. There are lots of labs and it is possible to visit Enrico Toti submarine and the helicopter flight simulator.
